Gwangjin-gu sits on the north bank of the Han River in eastern Seoul. It is best known as a university district: Konkuk University and Sejong University are both here, and the Konkuk University area (건대입구) is one of the city's busiest student and nightlife zones. The district mixes dense mid- and high-rise residential blocks with pockets of older, more affordable housing and some light industry, while the riverside in the south and Achasan mountain in the east give it more green space than most inner Seoul districts. Rents run cheaper than Gangnam or Songpa across the river, which is a large part of its appeal.

Đi lại
Gwangjin-gu is served by three subway lines — Line 2 (the circle line), Line 5, and Line 7 — with the Konkuk University area acting as the main hub where Lines 2 and 7 meet. That gives fast, direct connections to Gangnam, City Hall, and Hongdae without transfers on Line 2. There is no airport rail line inside the district: for Incheon Airport you transfer to the AREX line, and for both airports you can also catch limousine buses. One standout is intercity travel — the East Seoul Bus Terminal (Dong Seoul Terminal) at Gangbyeon Station runs buses to most provinces in Korea, making Gwangjin a convenient base for weekend trips out of the city.

Ai sống ở đây
Gwangjin-gu has a clear split personality. The center of gravity is the Konkuk University area, a loud, cheap, energetic student quarter packed with restaurants, bars, and one of Seoul's top nightlife scenes — great if you want to be in the middle of it, less so if you want quiet. Moving away from the campuses, much of the district is ordinary, mid-priced residential Seoul: dense apartment blocks in Jayang and Guui, and older, more affordable housing and small workshops around Junggok and toward Achasan. The southern edge along the Han River (Ttukseom riverside area) and the huge Children's Grand Park give residents real green space, and Achasan is a popular easy hiking mountain. Overall it reads as a practical, mid-budget, well-connected district rather than an upscale or polished one.
- Konkuk University area (Hwayang-dong / 건대입구)— Student and nightlife core — dense, lively, lots of eateries and bars; convenient but busy
- Jayang-dong— Riverside residential with apartments near the Han River; popular with families and commuters
- Guui-dong— Central residential and commercial area around Gangbyeon and the bus terminal
- Junggok-dong— Older, more affordable residential toward Achasan; quieter and cheaper
- Gunja-dong— Northern residential area at the Line 5/7 transfer, near Children's Grand Park and Sejong University
Dành cho cư dân nước ngoài
Gwangjin-gu is a genuine university district, and that shapes its foreign community: it draws a lot of international students and younger foreign residents around the two campuses, especially in the Konkuk University area, where you'll find international restaurants, share houses, and one-room (officetel/studio) rentals aimed at students. Rents are more affordable than the districts across the river, which makes it a common landing spot for students and young professionals. It is not a diplomatic or corporate-expat enclave like Yongsan — the foreign presence here is more student- and youth-driven.
