Guro is well connected for a peripheral district, with Line 1, Line 2, and Line 7 all serving it. Sindorim is the standout — a Line 1/Line 2 interchange and one of the busiest transfer points in the whole system (well over 300,000 daily users). Guro Station is where Line 1 splits into the Gyeongbu (toward Suwon) and Gyeongin (toward Incheon) branches, so pay attention to which train you board. Guro Digital Complex Station on Line 2 is the gateway to the G-Valley office cluster. Commutes into central Seoul are direct but the trains get very crowded at peak hours. There is no airport express line inside the district.

No direct airport line. For Incheon Airport, take Line 1 to Seoul Station and transfer to the AREX airport train; Gimpo Airport is relatively close in western Seoul but still requires one or two transfers.

Guro is honest, unpretentious, and affordable. Its identity splits between the modern G-Valley tech towers around Guro Digital Complex and Sindorim, and older, denser residential and industrial neighborhoods elsewhere. Garibong-dong is the most distinctive: a long-established Korean-Chinese enclave centered on 'Yeonbyeon Street,' with Chinese-language signage, markets, and cheap eateries. Much of the housing stock is aging low-rise and villa-type units, with several redevelopment projects underway. This is a district for value and convenience, not scenery or status.

• Gocheok-dong— Residential area known for Gocheok Sky Dome (baseball); home to Dongyang Mirae University
• Gaebong-dong / Oryu-dong— Quieter western residential neighborhoods along Line 1 toward the Bucheon border

Guro is one of Seoul's most internationally mixed districts, and its foreign-resident story is defined by the ethnic-Korean-Chinese (Joseonjok) community rather than a Western-expat scene. Garibong-dong's Yeonbyeon Street, centered on Uma 2-gil, has been a return-migration hub for Koreans from China's Jilin and Liaoning provinces since diplomatic ties with China normalized in 1992; foreigners have made up a large share of the local population (recorded at around 45% in Garibong-dong in 2016). The area offers cheap rooms, Chinese-Korean groceries and food, and community organizations providing job placement, legal aid, and welfare support. Practically, this means low rents and strong support networks for Chinese-speaking newcomers, though the neighborhoods are older and less polished than central Seoul. Note that the larger, better-known Daerim 'Chinatown' is just across the boundary in neighboring Yeongdeungpo-gu.
